Are
you Yinged or Yanged out?
By Mindbody Specialist, Free Spirit

Life is constantly flowing and never
really stands still... For most of us in this modern
world it is a rare blessing to have an even balance
of ying and yang.
But what is YING and YANG you may ask....
and what's the difference?
Ying is the feminine energy;
it is soft, fluid and flowing, nurturing and comforting,
compassionate, creative, free and contemplative.
Yang is the masculine
energy; it is angular, assertive,
action based, tunnel vision focused, good at getting
things done with lots of doing, doing, doing.
We ALL need a BALANCE of both YING and YANG for WELLBEING.
However,
we currently live
in a very YANG society. There
is so much emphasis on doing, doing, doing, that we
often feel guilty when we slow down to rest and get
a little YING time, it is so engrained within our
culture....
It is a problem of epidemic
proportions in our society and a major cause of disease
Are You all
YANGed Out?
It is the classic running on empty storyline.
Work, work, work...at your career, when you get home,
more work, work, work caring for the children, your
partner, the house or animals....
Maybe you've got a second or even third
job to try and get ahead...
You've been working so much you haven't
done much exercise and are feeling guilty so you go
smash out a run....
Now you're exhausted and hardly have
the energy to cook a good healthy meal so get something
easy and the next morning you need a couple of cups
of coffee to get you going because you are so exhausted...
And you do it all again... This is an
example of being Yanged out.
5 Things You
Could Do To 'YING' A Little
1. Walk on the grass
barefoot slowly and focus on your breath.
2. Soak in a warm bath, light some
candles and listen to relaxing music.
3. Lie under a tree and read a novel.
4. Go to a Tai Chi, gently yoga or pilates
class.
5. Write a list of relaxing ways to nurture yourself
and start doing them.
Being YINGed out is the Opposite. Are you so relaxed
you are laying around all day, doing not much, can't
get motivated, eating plenty, thinking lots but not
doing much at all. Possibly a bit of a couch potato
storyline. If this is you then you need more YANG.
5
Things You Could Do To 'YANG' A Little
1. Go for a brisk walk
or run.
2. Do a boxing, circuit or dynamic dance class.
3. Go for a bush walk up a hill or
mountain.
4. Start some weight training.
5. Write a list of tasks that need to be done, and
do them, 1 at a time.
BOTH too
much YING or too much YANG throws
us out of balance and leads to illness and
disease....
Constantly
re-evaluate where you are and decide
whether you need more Ying
or more Yang
and move towards a more balanced
and healthy life!
